having completed all 12 drawings, I am currently struggling to resolve what to display for the exhibition.
I have now printed the drawings onto newprint paper to take the text back to a newspaper type surface,
also this connects them to the present
however I dont like the look and feel of the prints on newsprint paper as much as the original drawings...
dilemma!

Having spent some time in the gallery space, I really like the form of the window panes and will be trimming the drawings into a square shape while laying out the 12 drawings in the same 3 x 4 grid format as the window panes in an attempt to connect the drawings to the physical space of the gallery

6.8.12
I am developing a series of drawings based around the L words (twelth letter of the alphabet)collected from the 12.12.12 Sheffield Telegraph newspaper
This is the first trial drawing I have done, which will appear on the poster:
10.7.12
The image below represents the missing pages within the archive the Sheffield Star Decemember 1912, but comes up on the micro film every time there are pages missing
- I am fascinated by the partial nature of archives and what is left out, is in some ways more interesting to consider that what is presented
Equally when you print off a photocopy the quality is quite low and the image and text becomes fairly distorted which will imapact on the work
2.7.12
I have been to the Local Studies Library in Sheffield for my first visit -
The Sheffield Star for the date 12.12.1912 (and most of December)was missing, but I found copies of the Sheffield Independent and also the Sheffield Daily Telegraph
I have taken copies of the front pages, they are very hard to read as they are so small, though that could become an interesting feature of the work
However I am going back again so I can view them with a larger lens, just to keep my options open
25.6.12
Initially I have proposed to produce 12 drawings based around newspapers, communication and information, though as yet I am unclear how this will develop
Generally I am interested in language, information, repetition, and text as image
I hope to look at Sheffield newspapers from the specific period of December 1912 - I am really hoping to find something from the date 12.12.12 and am looking forward to getting in touch with the Sheffield Local Studies Library
Then I hope to develop specific constraints in order to draw from them and connect them to the current Sheffield newspapers - again potentially looking at the date 12.12.12 (-though in which case it will have to be the Sheffield Star as the Sheffield Telegraph will be released on the Thursday 13th as it is a weekly paper)
However I am now beginning to wonder how I will develop the work that will relate specifically to the 2012 newspapers as their release will be on the first day of the exhibition - this may involve a specific time constraint to be used - there may need to be an exchange of the work half way through - only time will tell on this one!
Looking forward to getting started!
